Embroidery/Beading
I am a self-taught embroidery artist. In 2021 I took part in an Instagram challenge called "Stitch This in Your Style." Prompts were released monthly, and embroidery artists would create themed hoops. I used these prompts as a way to practice new skills and explore design choices rather than following a pre-designed patterns.

Mask-ulinity
Design/Stitching: Sebastian Newell
This mask was a project for a Costume Design class. The prompt for the project was to create a mask that represented you. I designed and hand-beaded this mask to represent the dichotomy of masculinity/femininity. The mask took ~18 hours to complete, and is completely hand-sewn.

I undertook this project with the goal of practicing beading techniques. I learned chain stitching and couching. The basic astrology chart pattern was found via open source images and transferred using water soluble stabilizer.

This project was inspired by the #stitchthisinyourstyle challenge's prompt "fairytale". My main focus for this piece was on color blending techniques in the upper body and beading in the background.

Knitting
I taught myself to knit when I was eight and began test knitting when I was eighteen. Test knitting involves applying to an open call and being selected by a designer. The designer then has a group of testers knit the pattern to check for technical errors before the pattern is released to the public.

Test knitting provides me with opportunities to make projects I otherwise would not consider and provides more structure and deadlines than recreational knitting.

Props etc.
Replica Edmund Fitzgerald Flag
This flag was created for a private commission. It is a 3'x5' replica of the flag flown by the SS Edmund Fitzgerald before it sank in 1975.
I was given a jpg of the design, and used a gridline background to create a scale pattern. The letters were cut out with a Cricut and zig-zag stitched. The flag is hung via grommets.
To date I have sold three of these replica flags to collectors around the U.S. via commission and Etsy.

Decapitated Heads
Prop for Niagara University's The Thanksgiving Play.
I knit one head to match the pre-existing one, and attached hair to both. These props needed to be thrown at hit throughout the show. The head was knit in the round without a pattern.
