Costuming
Throughout my undergraduate education I've taken classes in Basic Costume Construction, Flat Pattern Drafting, Advanced Costume Construction (Independent Study), Costume Design, an Internship in the Costume Shop, and a Tailoring Senior Capstone. Each semester I've worked backstage on at least one show, usually in a wardrobe capacity. Additionally, I work in the costume shop on builds. My junior and senior years I've worked on various solo-builds as portfolio pieces.
1890s Corset

Show: A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder
Designer: Maureen Stevens
Drafter: Sebastian Newell
Construction: Sebastian Newell
Actress: Sam Campbell
This corset was drafted for Sibella using instructions from Mandy Barrington's Stays and Corsets Volume 2. The mockup was made of cotton twill, and the final was flatlined with pink satin. Details include dark pink piping along the top and bottom, a spoon busk at center front, and grommets and a modesty panel at center back.

Angel's Halloween Look
Drafter: Sebastian Newell
Construction: Sebastian Newell
Performer: Jamarion Evans
This look was a solo build for Rent. The concept was that Angel created this costume herself from found materials. I drafted torso and pants slopers for Jamarion and adapted the patterns to create a zip-front crop jacket, mini-skirt, and leg warmers. The garments were then built using sleeping bags as fabric. The mini-skirt needed to have loops built into it in order for the actor to hide a pair of bolt-cutters under the skirt.

Lydia Bennett's Dress
Show: Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley
Designer: Amaya Mack
Drafter: Lara Berich
First Hand/Stitcher: Sebastian Newell
Actress: JC Hartloff
This dress was the final project for my costume construction independent study under Lara Berich's guidance. I constructed the mock-up, made an "order-of-operations" approach for the construction process, attended fittings, and constructed the final garment.

Fall-Front Pants
Pattern: Marilyn Deighton
Construction: Sebastian Newell
These pants were the final project for my freshman costume construction class. The garments were constructed for department stock. My project included plaid pattern-matching.

Hand-sewn 18th
Century Mitts
Pattern adapted from Larkin & Smith Mitt pattern
Stitcher: Sebastian Newell
Product for use at Old Fort Niagara by historical interpreters.
In 2022, I began volunteering at Old Fort Niagara, a re-enactment site and state park located outside of Youngstown, NY. I sew and repair garments for historical interpreters to wear, and assist with research for the Fort's projects. All garments are historically accurate. These mitts are fully hand-sewn out of linen.
